Videographer + Storyteller

Contract position
The Videographer and Chief Storyteller will work to capture and promote the life and events of the unified Church in the Puget Sound and Saturate the Sound (STS). This role requires a strong ability to serve as a one-person creative department, including:
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy
  • Videographer and editor
  • Chief Storyteller (including video, blog, and social media)
  • Creative lead on projects
  • Generate campaign ideas and pitch to lead team
  • Manage short- and long-term creative projects
  • Social media management
CONTENT, STRATEGY, & TECHNOLOGY || the ideal candidate should be proficient in these areas:
  • Understanding of story fundamentals (effective character, trajectory, hook, authenticity/details and calls-to-action)
  • Keen sense of newsworthiness (what makes a story interesting from the audience’s perspective)
  • Stellar writing skills; understanding of news writing techniques
  • Interviewing skills; how to ask effective questions and develop rapport/trust with story subjects
  • Storyboarding experience; understanding the effectiveness and appropriateness of story assets (text, images, audio, video) and how to combine them
  • Visual, audio and video content creation experience; well-developed eye/ear for best practices in each
  • Deep understanding of organization’s overall programming, fundraising, communications, and advocacy objectives
  • Ability to incorporate and balance objectives of all departments to oversee production of strategic, compelling stories
  • Ability to collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate and oversee the story collection, production and distribution process
  • Experience in creating strategic communications plans (from research through measurement/evaluation) and in designing specific content strategies to meet organizational objectives
  • Experience crafting editorial calendars and in re-purposing stories across platforms
  • Working knowledge of intermediate- to advanced-level equipment (DSLR camera, video, audio recorder, microphones)
  • Comfort and experience using editing software (image, audio and video, post production)
  • Ability to design and maintain a story bank (using database or other software/hardware solutions)
  • Expertise with online platforms: content management systems for web, e-newsletter services, and social media
  • Experience using web analytics and social media monitoring/measurement tools

Grant Writer

Freelance Position


Saturate the Sound is seeking a freelance Grant Writer to coordinate and support the organization’s efforts to raise funds through corporate, foundation, and government grants. Functions of the Grant Writer include:

  • Identify and research corporate, foundation and governmental sources of funding.
  • Coordinate, write, edit, and proofread grant proposals and reports.
  • Track funding source proposal requirements and application deadlines.


Key Responsibilities

Research Grant Sources

  • Identify and research corporate, foundation and governmental sources of funding.
  • Actively solicit grant funding sources on a local, state and national level.
  • Research funding source interests and match with the organization’s funding goals.
  • Match potential grants to appropriate program area or region.

Proposal Preparation

  • Coordinate, write, edit, and proofread grant proposals and reports.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with program and development staff.
  • Coordinate and facilitate strategy grant planning sessions.
  • Coordinate preparation, assembly and delivery of proposal documents.

Grant Monitoring

  • Track funding source proposal requirements and application deadlines.
  • Develop and monitor grant and report due date calendar.
  • Provide regular reports to funding sources of progress in funded programs to donors and foundations.
  • Monitor and assist program staff with program initiation and team coordination.
  • Monitor and assist program staff in meeting organizational standards and compliance with grant and contract requirements.
  • Maintain the grant management database and hard files.



  • Proven grant writing experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, marketing, or related field.
  • Exemplary written communication skills required.
  • Knowledge of faith-based nonprofits preferred.
  • Fundraising experience preferred
  • Ability to work cooperatively with STS and funding personnel in designing proposals.
  • Excellent interpersonal, telephone, customer service, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines required.
  • Commitment to the mission of Saturate the Sound.
